Two men are dead after a four-hour SWAT situation at a townhome in Twinsburg Sunday night, according to Twinsburg police.

"We received multiple calls of an argument and gun shots," said Twinsburg Assistant Police Chief Bob Gonsiewski.

Gonsiewski said officers responded to 9636 East Idlewood Dr. just before 6 p.m. Sunday to find one man shot 4-5 times outside of the townhome by his truck. He said police said the homeowner possibly shot the man. Neighbors then told officers that the homeowner went inside the house.

"We surrounded the house, called out metro SWAT, believed he was in there, made numerous attempts to contact him," Gonsiewski. "He never talked to us at all. After about four hours, the SWAT team deployed gas to the house and was able to make entry in the house."

Once inside, Gonsiewski said SWAT team members found the suspect dead with an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound. There was a 9mm gun nearby.

It is unclear how the two men knew each other. Police have not released their names yet.

During the standoff, police evacuated nearby residents to the city's senior center.

"There were a lot of people evacuated from the area because any time you have a barricaded suspect, gun shots could start flying, and you don't want anyone else to get injured," Gonsiewski said.

Gonsiewski said the suspect had no criminal record.
