Twinsburg police are investigating if a love triangle may have been the motive in a murder-suicide over the weekend.

Police say 58-year-old Robert Waltzer of Twinsburg shot and killed 57-year-old Jerry Robinson of Northfield Sunday evening.

Police questioned 41-year-old Tracey Wilson of Northfield Village after she told them both men were fighting over her. Officers confiscated Wilson's cell phone to go over communications made to both Waltzer and Robinson.

According to Twinsburg Assistant Police Chief Bob Gonsiewski, officers responded to the 9600 block of East Idlewood Drive just before 6 p.m. Sunday to find Robinson shot 4-5 times in the stomach outside of the townhome by his truck. Police said the homeowner, Waltzer, was the suspected shooter.

Police said Robinson was taken to Cleveland Clinic, where he was pronounced dead at 6:50 p.m.

Neighbors told officers the homeowner went inside the home. SWAT tried to talk with him, but he refused. Four hours later, gas was deployed in the house and SWAT was able to get inside.

Gonsiewski said Waltzer was found dead inside the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. There was a 9mm gun nearby.
