A SWAT situation shut down a Coventry Township road for hours on Sunday.

Several Summit County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home on the 3900 block of East State Street with armored trucks at around 4 p.m. about a possibly suicidal 32-year-old man, who could have a weapon inside the home, according to Inspector Bill Holland of the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

The SWAT team was able to get a woman and a female child out of the home safely as authorities worked to talk to the man out of the home, Holland said.

Authorities said the standoff ended at around 7:30 p.m. and that authorities were not injured in the incident.

Officials would not provide further details on what happened with the man who barricaded himself inside the home, adding that more information would be released Monday.

East State Street has reopened.
