FAIRLAWN, Ohio - Police in several Summit County communities are asking parents register their child's graduation party so authorities can aim at reducing underage drinking.
Officers in Bath, Copley, Fairlawn and Richfield tell Patch.com that they will swing by each party to make sure teens aren't drinking and are partying in a safe way.
Police want to prevent alcohol-related crashes and save lives. The initiative came about after two serious wrecks in 2012 related to underage drinking at a graduation party.
To register your graduation party:
- In Bath, visit www.bathtownship.org
- For Fairlawn, call 330-670-4300 or 330-666-8871
- In Copley, dial 330-666-4218
- In Richfield, call 330-659-9500
Police remind parents throwing graduation parties for their seniors that serving alcohol to anyone under 21 – except their own child -- is illegal.
