Police: Husband & wife attempt robbery

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A man waited in his mini-van as his wife robbed a Springfield Township gas station Thursday night, according to police.

Melissa Sue Smith, 30, and William F. Smith IV, 29, were charged with aggravated robbery and booked in the Summit County Jail.

According to police, Melissa Sue went into the Mash Oil ga station on S. Arlington Road  at about 8:20 p.m. wearing a ski mask and brandishing a hand gun. She pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded money. She took off and got into her husband's van.

A Summit County Deputy Sheriff stopped the vehicle a short time later and found an "Airsoft" pistol, ski mask, and the stolen money.
