Police still looking for answers on dead puppy found at Cuyahoga Falls PetSmart

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - Police are still searching for answers as to who dropped off a dead 3-month-old Labrador puppy in the bushes at PetSmart in Cuyahoga Falls.

It was Tuesday afternoon when someone pulled up in a car and placed the puppy in the bushes. A witness noticed someone pulling out in a Honda Acura. The car's color appeared to be tan, police said.

There are no video cameras in the parking lot and the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department don't have much more information.

"They are handling it like any other investigation. They could be charged with a second-degree misdemeanor or possibly a first degree misdemeanor, which can carry six months in jail and a $1,000-fine," said Sgt. Gary Blevins of the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department.

Veronica Bernel, who is an avid dog lover, adopted her 3-year-old Labrador, Goldie, three years ago and is just appalled someone would do this.

"It makes me sad that there are people that are so cruel and inhumane that they would do something like this," Bernel said.

The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department asks if you have any information about this crime to call the detective bureau at 330-971-8334.
