CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - Just in time for Father's Day, a dozen National Guard soldiers returned from Afghanistan. A dozen members of the 174th Defense Artillery Brigade received a hero's welcome in Cuyahoga Falls.
After exchanging a smile and a hug from his son, James Milicia said, "I am ready to go home and be Dad again. I think I owe my son an hours worth of throwing the football so, that's the first thing we'll do."
These soldiers were deployed to train Afghan safety forces to secure their own country.
Brigadier General John Harris said these this mission is the most important thing happening in Afghanistan, "If the Afghan security forces can not maintain a safe and secure environment once we are gone, then everything that has happened in the last decade was for naught."
