More than $14,000 in eyeglass frames were stolen from a vision store during a smash and grab in Copley Township and now police are looking for the person responsible.
The break in happened at Handel Vision Clinic on Cleveland Massillon Road around 4 a.m. on June 16.
Responding officers said it appeared a vehicle backed into the window of the store to gain entry.
Fifty one frames, costing roughly $11,517, were stolen. Eleven pairs of sunglasses worth $3,417 were also taken.
"You feel like you've been violated. You try and do a good job every day and then have someone take something from you," said owner Thomas Handel. "It makes you feel uneasy."
Police are looking to question a man came into the store a day earlier and was reportedly acting suspiciously. He is pictured above.
Lt. Matt Lynch said detectives noticed the man-- who may have been posing as a customer-- was wearing dark pants and white shoes that appeared to match the clothing worn by the crook.
Similar crimes have been reported in Streetsboro, Bath Township and Akron.
On June 14, someone tried to throw a large rock through Family Eye Care, but protective film on the inside prevented the windows from smashing.
The business added the film after three previous break-ins.
Anyone with information on the Copley suspect is asked to call Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $2,000.
