AKRON, Ohio - A man is under arrest after allegedly threatening violence against a Summit County public official.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office was contacted Tuesday by the Summit County Clerk of Courts Office about an individual making violent threats against Clerk of Courts Daniel Horrigan.
The sheriff's investigation showed that Jeffrey Hatfield, 31, of Massillon, made several phone threats to Horrigan. When confronted by law enforcement, Hatfield admitted to the threats and stated his intention to carry out the assault threat against Horrigan.
When authorities attempted to arrest Hatfield for Intimidation (of a public official), he resisted, attempting to gain access of a firearm.
Hatfield received the Intimidation charge, as well as Assault on a Peace Officer and Obstructing Official Business.
He was booked into the Stark County Jail.
