CLEVELAND - An Alliance man who police say tried to pay $400 for a 10-year-old bride was charged federally Tuesday.
Robert W. Thomas, 36, of Cuyahoga Falls, was arrested Jan. 11 after Alliance Police said he made an online posting asking for anyone willing to arrange a marriage between him and their daughter.
Detectives answered his posting and arranged a meeting at an Alliance business, during which they said Thomas thought he was paying $400 for a 10-year-old girl. When Thomas showed up, cash in hand, he was arrested.
Thomas was charged with one federal count of buying or selling children.
