AKRON, Ohio - The daughter of a couple found dead in a New Franklin home Tuesday afternoon was the victim of an attack just more than a week earlier.
A police report said Chelsea Schobert was attacked inside the 1400 block of Andrus Street in Akron on March 23, suffering numerous injuries including stab wounds and skull fracture.
Jamayne Ruiz, 24, was arrested and charged with felonious assault, according to the report. Detectives said he is in jail and has not been released.
Police are investigating the deaths of Schobert's parents, 56-year-old Jeffrey, and his wife, 59-year-old Margaret, as a double homicide. They said they have questioned Chelsea Schobert's ex-boyfriend but that there are no suspects or arrests at this time.
Jeffrey Schobert was a prominent Akron-area attorney. Neighbors told NewsChannel5 they thought the family of four was on vacation.
Police said a black Mazda CX-7 with the license plate EYJ 6369 was missing from the Schobert's home.
ArchBishop Hoban High School will hold a 3 p.m. prayer vigil at the school Wednesday for the family.
