Cuyahoga Falls police offer a toy waiver instead of a traffic warning

Donations go to the Toys for Tots program

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - If you are pulled over by police in the city of Cuyahoga Falls over the next two weeks, you may be able to help make Christmas a little better for a local child.

Cuyahoga Falls police are handing out toy waivers instead of traffic warnings for minor traffic violations. The violator will be encouraged to drop off a new, unwrapped toy to the police department between Dec. 2 and Dec. 15, 2012.

The toys will be donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

This is the fifth year for the Trade a Ticket for a Toy donation program.

Captain Jack Davis of the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department said last year, more than 200 toys were collected. Davis said that in the past, some people have donated a toy without even receiving a toy waiver.
