When police tracked down a man accused of robbing a Burger King in Copley this week, they found three other people who were breaking the law.

It all started with a robbery at the Burger King on Montrose West Avenue around 10 p.m. Tuesday. A man approached the clerk, threatening to shoot and fled on foot with $154.

On Wednesday, police showed surveillance video of the suspect to businesses in the area. Investigators learned that the person responsible might be staying in a room at the nearby Best Western hotel.

Officers responded to the room and located the suspect—identified as 22-year-old James Jones.

Also in the room were Joshua Jones, 28, Tara Daugherty, 29, and James Jones' nine-month-old son. Police also located the child's mother, 20-year-old Brittany Haas, who was seen walking near the hotel.

Officers searched the room and found cash, clothing worn by Jones during the robbery, multiple needles and about two grams of a substance police believe to be heroin.

James was arrested for aggravated robbery, Joshua was arrested on a warrant for escape, Daugherty was arrested for possessing controlled substances and drug abuse instruments and Haas was arrested for child endangering.

The child was turned over to children's services.
