The man suspected of killing a New Franklin couple appeared in court Friday.
AKRON, Ohio - Charges were dropped against one man in the vicious attack of a murdered New Franklin couple's daughter, and then filed against the teen charged in the double murder.
On Friday, Akron police filed a felonious assault charge against 18-year-old Shawn Ford for the March 23 beating of his girlfriend Chelsea Schobert.
Schobert was stabbed and suffered a skull fracture after an attack inside an Akron home on Andrus Street. She remains a patient at Akron Children's Hospital.
Police originally charged Jamayne Ruiz, 24, for the attack. Akron police have dismissed the charge against him and he was released from the Summit County Jail Thursday night.
According to New Franklin police, Ford killed Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert using a sledgehammer. Construction workers found their bodies Tuesday.
Ford is being held on a $2 million bond. Police said they have physical evidence that connects him to the murders.
