An Akron man who was wanted by authorities after stabbing his girlfriend to death has been found and sentenced to life in prison.

Michael Huguley, 36, was found guilty on two counts of murder, one for felonious assault and one for domestic violence.

The stabbing happened in June of 2015, when Huguley stabbed Williams, his girlfriend at the time, in an Akron apartment. Huguley was captured five weeks later by members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Huguley, who stands about 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs around 250 pounds, was at-large until being spotted at a Cleveland pizza shop near East 71st Street and Harvard Avenue.

He will be eligible for parole after 15 years.

“Michael Huguley is a very dangerous individual and I am glad he will spend a significant time in prison,” said Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh. “This was an extremely violent crime and the community is safer with Mr. Huguley behind bars.”
