Akron police are searching for suspects after two violent robberies left auto shop owners with injuries to their faces.
The owner of Long’s Auto Haus in the 700 block North Main Street, told police he was robbed at gunpoint Thursday by two males who entered the business armed with handguns about 8 a.m., according to Akron police.
The men pistol-whipped the owner and demanded money. The men then ran away with an unknown amount of cash to an awaiting gray, Ford Taurus parked on Frances Avenue. A female was the getaway driver, according to Lt. Rick Edwards.
Police think the men may have been involved in a similar robbery that occurred on Oct. 7 at about 6:45 p.m. at Bel-Air Motors, located in the 600 block of West Exchange Street. The owner of the shop was pistol-whipped and money was taken.
In the North Main Street incident, the men were described as two black males and one black female. The first male is 18-22 years old, 5’04” – 5’06”, 150 – 170 pounds, wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The second man is described as 20 – 25 years old, 6’02” – 6’04”, 180 – 190 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The female is 5’5”, 120 pounds, and had pink or purple hair.
