After being robbed and shot in the leg, officials say an Akron man drove himself to the fire department for treatment.

Around 7 p.m. on Thursday, the man was stopped by two others asking for a cigarette lighter near Sumner and East Voris Streets. When the man told the duo he didn't have a lighter, one of the two reached into his car and grabbed a money clip from a cup holder. The other man fired several shots, one hitting the driver in the leg.

The man reportedly drove his car the fire station on East Thorton Street and was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police described to two men who were involved in the car as about 5 foot 6 inches tall. The man with the gun is described as having a light complexion and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident.
