Macedonia crash claims life of Fairview Park man

One person has died and another person was left with critical injuries after being struck by a car on Saturday, officials said. 

79-year-old Lawrence Hain of Fairview Park died from his injuries sustained in the crash, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said.

According to authorities, the city’s police and fire departments responded to the intersection of Waters and state Route 82 just before 10:30 a.m. regarding a crash involving two pedestrians.

Police said a 79-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman were crossing the roadway in the crosswalk when they were struck by a Nissan Murano that was driven by a 65-year-old woman.

The two pedestrians were taken to Metro Health Medical Center with critical injuries. Hain later died.

Macedonia Police said further details on the driver – and possible charges – are unavailable at this time.

The area of 82 between SR 8 and Macedonia Commons Boulevard is now completely open after only one lane being open in both eastbound and westbound directions following the incident.
