CANTON, Ohio - Two men have been charged with a burglary ring that spanned seven counties and netted $25,000 and 90 firearms, Stark County Sheriff's officials said.
Casey C. Gowins, 48, and Christopher M. Reed, 32, both of Canton, were arrested. Deputies said they recovered stolen items including $25,000 in cash, 90 firearms, a ballistic vest, cross bows and compound bows, jewelry, foreign currency, electronics and other items.
Deputies believe the men burglarized homes in Stark, Wayne, Carroll, Tuscarawas, Harrison, Holmes and Columbiana counties.
Gowins was charged with possession of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, obstructing official business and possession of drug paraphernalia. Reed is being held on a parole violation.
Additional charges against both men are pending.
Stark County deputies pieced together the burglary operation after a tip from the Jackson Township Police Department and a burglary in Harrison County last week, the Sheriff's Office said.
