CANTON, Ohio - Two Canton men were charged conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana after a semi-tractor trailer was found with more than 1,700 pounds of marijuana on its way to Cleveland.
Ray Sanchez and Andy Fagan, both of Canton, attempted to ship the marijuana to Cleveland, but it was intercepted by Homeland Security on Aug. 15, court documents said.
According to law enforcement, Sanchez contacted a person in Texas and arranged for the drugs to be shipped to Ohio, while Fagan sent $20,000 to the Texas connection.
The semi, which contained 1,718 pounds of marijuana, was intercepted when it crossed the border at Laredo, Texas and the two men were arrested as a result.
The case is being investigated by a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Agency Task Force comprised of members of the Cleveland Division of Police, Independence Police Department, Broadview Heights Police Department, Brooklyn Police Department, Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations.
