CANTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Police in Stark County are now investigating the shooting of two horses in a Canton Township field.
According to the sheriff's office, the office received a call about the discovery of two dead horses in the 3000 block of Central Avenue in a pasture field Monday around 11:30 a.m.
When deputies responded to the area, the two horses were found dead with gunshot wounds from an unknown subject.
Several witnesses in the area report hearing gunshots on Sunday night around 9:30 and 10 p.m.
Brenda Boyce posted a message to her Facebook page condemning the person responsible and asking users to spread the word. She said that one of the horses belonged to her 19-year-old daughter with autism.
Aside from how irreplaceable this horse was to me. There is someone else this horse was irreplaceable to. That is my 19 year old daughter. Let me tell you about her and what you took from her. She has autism, epilepsy, slow motor skills, the mentality of a 1-3 year old, and a serious heart condition that is irreversible. This horse was not only a trusted friend and part of this young lady's family in the hard to understand and confusing world she lives in, she was her therapy horse and a big part of her world. So when you think of that beautiful dapple grey horse laying there bleeding to death .... yeah, you stopped her with your evil heart and your bullets. But never in our hearts.
Police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to the Stark County Sheriff's Office at 330-430-3800.
