Routine traffic stop uncovers cocaine, illegal possession of a firearm

MASSILLON, Ohio - During a routine traffic stop the Massillon Police Department arrested a convicted felon for possession of cocaine and a loaded handgun.  

The suspect was initially pulled over for displaying fictitious plates and excessive window tint.  After the officer had a conversation with the individual, an additional officer and K-9, Inca, were called to the scene.

Inca alerted officers of illegal drugs within the vehicle.  

Officers searched the vehicle and discovered cocaine and a loaded handgun.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Massillon City Jail, where heroin was then found on the person. 

The driver was charged with trafficking in cocaine, weapons under disability, illegal conveyance of weapons, drugs or other prohibited items onto grounds of detention facility or institution and additional traffic violations.
