MINERVA, Ohio - More than 30 residents of a northeast Ohio nursing home were evacuated safely when an electrical fire sent smoke streaming through a utility room and dining room.
There were no injuries in the Sunday night fire at Minerva Eldercare, southeast of Canton.
Chief Aaron Stoller with the Sandy Creek Fire District says a 2-inch water line broke in the second-story mechanical room, causing the water to flow to the electrical room on the lower level.
Residents were taken to a fraternal organization hall and then to two other nursing homes.
The Repository newspaper in Canton ( http://bit.ly/ylznf6 ) reports the chief estimated the damage at $25,000.
Administrator Brian Fernia says the nursing home takes resident safety seriously.
