Police investigating early morning crash in Uniontown find drugs, loaded gun

UNIONTOWN, Ohio - Uniontown officers suspected a man of driving under the influence, but ended up finding cocaine and a loaded pistol.

Police were called to a crash on King Church Avenue near Meandering Creek on Tuesday at about 3:24 a.m. While investigating, officers arrested 20-year-old Ewell K.T. Martin IV, aka Tyler Martin, on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence, Uniontown police said.

Officers discovered he had more than $600 in cash on him and 14.2 grams of cocaine inside his car. Police said they also found more than nine pounds of marijuana, an additional $14,000 and a loaded .25 caliber pistol with the serial number grinded off.

Martin, of Lake Township, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in cocaine, OVI, underage consumption, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug instruments, weapons under disability and possession of a defaced firearm.

Police said more charges and arrests are pending, and the incident is still under investigation.
