Just five months on the job, Jacob Miller patrols the streets of Massillon with a smile on his face and toys in the truck of his car. "When I talk to kids I try to make it a fun experience for them. That's why I carry around toys and that's why I try to talk to kids." Miller said, "If they are out playing, I played tag with the kids one day and these kids light up. They were having so much fun they didn't want me to leave."

The events in Dallas has shaken police around the country. Miller says he draws strength from his fellow officers. "When events like this happen and we all sit down and we talk about it", said Miller. "We discuss, all right, here's what happened, why did it happen and how can we prevent this from happening in our community."

The rookie officer says he doesn't want to let the death of the Dallas officers change the way he does his job. He believes communication, between police and the community, is the key to keeping the community and fellow officers safe.
