Louisviille City School District teachers have gone on strike.

After voting to reject the recommendations from a report that was filed with the State Employment Relations Board on Friday, the Louisville Education Association began to picket around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

All 180 members of the teaching staff are participating in picketing at the high school, middle school and elementary schools.

The Louisville City School District officials have said that all schools are still open today and that there are enough subs to handle the strike. Classes began this morning at 7:45 a.m. as usually scheduled.

The Louisville Education Association said they are ready to go back to negotiations with the Board.
