Man killed in Jackson Township buggy crash

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Troopers from the Ashland Post of the State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash on US 42 that involved an Amish buggy.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. Tuesday when Robert Kanuch Sr. of Nova, Ohio struck an Amish buggy headed northbound on US 42 forcing the driver of the buggy, 66-year-old Jacob Swartzentruber, of Polk, Ohio, to be thrown out of the buggy.

Swartzentruber was taken to Cleveland Metro Hospital via Metro Life Flight with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m., while Kanuch was not injured in the crash.

The traffic crash is still under investigation.
