Tristan Rubber Molding a total loss after fire

The building housing a rubber manufacturing plant in Jackson Township was destroyed in a large fire Tuesday morning.

Five fire departments, including Jackson Township, responded to battle the fire at Tristan Rubber Molding.

Employees called the fire department just before 9 a.m. saying there was a fire in one of the walls, but they thought that they were able to put it out.

However, when Jackson Township fire crews got there, the fire had spread and flames were shooting through the roof.

Employees at the scene told newsnet5.com there were 18 workers in the building when it caught fire. All were able to make it out without injury. 

Ron Canterbury, vice president of manufacturing for Tristan Rubber Molding, told newsnet5.com that 40 people total worked in the building. 

"We are going to move forward and re-build," he said. "We are going to take care of all of our employees in the process."

Tristan Rubber Molding has been located on Dressler Rd NW in Jackson Township for 22 years. The company manufactures the inside mold of tires.
