MASSILLON, Ohio - A warehouse fire in Massillon that sent a firefighter to the hospital is under investigation.
The fire happened just before 2 a.m. Thursday at NFM Welding Engineers on Oberlin Road.
Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Collins said the roof eventually collapsed as flames ripped through the two-story brick building.
Fire engines from Massillon, Perry Township and Jackson Township responded to the scene. It took about six hours to extinguish the blaze, Collins said.
One firefighter stepped into a hole and was taken to Affinity Medical Center with minor injuries. No workers were inside the warehouse at the time of the fire.
The damage is estimated at $200,000. NFM CFO Scott Swallen told firefighters that the building is a total loss. Only the building that makes wooden delivery carts was affected at the NFM facility, according to Swallen.
