MASSILLON, Ohio - A missing girl was spotted at the intersection of Mills and Main streets in Dalton in Wayne County Thursday morning.
An endangered missing child advisory was issued for the Stark County teen Wednesday.
Authorities said Emma Newland, 14, had previously been last seen walking by a pond near her home in Jackson Township, just north of Massillon, at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The regional emergency dispatch center said this is out of character for Emma, and family and law enforcement are worried about her safety. Jackson Township police are investigating. This is not an Amber Alert, but police said they believe she is in danger.
Police said they are working with the FBI to organize a foot search to look for the missing girl.
Emma is 5 foot 4, 110 pounds, has brown, straight, shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. She was wearing gray sweatpants, a peach-colored shirt and flip-flops.
