A Canal Fulton mom has accused a popular Northwest High School teacher and football coach of inappropriately touching her teenage daughter.

The woman, who asked not be identified, said 60-year-old Vic Whiting, the school’s head football coach and a business teacher, massaged her 15-year-old daughter’s shoulders and stroked her arm and neck in class on April 22.

The mom said she pulled her daughter out of the class upon hearing the news. When reached at his home Saturday, Whiting declined to comment.

“I don’t feel like he should be on school grounds at this point,” the woman said.

The woman went to police earlier this month, which was first reported by the Canton Repository.

She said Whiting was not in school on Friday, but there’s no word on his current status with the school system.

The accuser's mom is now trying to prepare her daughter for what's next.

“I keep trying to tell her that I’m proud of her because she gave these girls a voice that didn’t have one before," the mom told newsnet5.com.

The school superintendent and an athletic director could not be reached on Saturday. A Monday night school board meeting at the high school is expected to be standing room only.
