MANSFIELD, Ohio - Police have a mystery on their hands after a Mansfield woman discovered a broken tombstone in her yard that is believed to belong to a World War II veteran.
The woman told officers she found half of the tombstone Monday next to her carport, located in the 600 block of Bailey Drive.
Police believe the tombstone possibly belongs to a WWII veteran due to the insignia of “Worl,” “Penns,” S Sgt 128,” and a birth date of “Jan 8, 1923.” The partial name “Leroy Pa,” is also inscribed on the tombstone.
Police are looking for the missing right half and/or the family of Leroy to reunite the tombstone to his family. If you can help police solve this mystery contact Mansfield Police at (419) 755-9724.
