Mansfield Police are investigating two separate shootings in the same area, with one sending two juveniles to the hospital on Saturday night, authorities said.

At around 5:48 p.m. police responded to the area of West 6th and Bowman streets regarding two people who were shot.

Authorities found two male juveniles on the ground, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds in their lower bodies.

According to police, the two victims were walking in the area with another individual, when a car approached and shots were fired at them from inside the car.

The victims were taken to Ohio Health MedCentral hospital for treatment with “very serious” – but non-life threatening – injuries, police said.

It is unknown at this time how many shots were fired from the suspect car or how many suspects were involved.

Just two hours later, at around 8 p.m. police responded to the area of North Lake Park following another call of shots fired.  Police found a car parked in front of the 400 block of West 6th Street – along with a home at that address – both with multiple bullet holes.

Police checked the home but found no victims. Shortly after, the owner of the bullet-riddled car, who lives at the home, arrived and could not provide a reason for the shooting, authorities said.

Officers recovered around 17 spend shell casings on the pavement outside the home.

Police said it is unknown at this time if the two shooting incidents are related, and both investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact Major Crimes Detective David Scheurer at 419-755-9748 or Detective Frank Parrella at 419-755-9470.
