The Mansfield community is stepping up to support one of its own after a devastating cancer diagnoses affected its police force.

Ryan Garner, a police officer and newlywed, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.

The diagnosis came as quite the shock for the 2002 Ontario High School graduate since he didn't smoke or drink, according to the Mansfield News Journal.

But neighbors and friends of Garner and his wife Jen are gathering around him to help cover the costs of his treatment.

Wives of officers on the police force recently began selling bracelets that read, "In this family nobody fights alone," the Mansfield News Journal reports.

A GoFundMe account has also been created to support Garner. You can donate here.
