The surveillance video is 20/20—a man and two women walk into a Streetsboro optical shop and walk out with $6,000 in expensive designer eyewear.
It all happens in less than five minutes and it isn't the first time the ClearVision Center on State Rt. 303 has been hit.
Back in March, surveillance video captured a man coming in after-hours and stuffing two duffelbags with $29,000 worth of fancy frames.
This time around, the thieves came when the store was open, pretending to be actual customers.
While one asked for an eyeglass adjustment, another browsed and the third is seen stuffing frame after frame in his jacket pockets and shorts.
"You can see he reaches up, he grabs frames, he looks at them. They disappear into his clothing and then they never reappear back on the shelves. It is very obvious he's taking them," said Streetsboro Police Lt. Patricia Wain.
It's because the black market for stolen glasses is big business -- and these thieves know exactly what they're looking for.
"Tom Ford, Coach, they're only taking the big-dollar frames," said Sharon Kernig, ClearVision's office manager. "They could be selling them, they could be on eBay, Craigslist. We don't know what they're doing with them when they leave the store."
Optical stores in Streetsboro, Solon, Mentor, Bath Township and Akron have all been hit over the last few months, losing out on thousands of dollars in inventory.
Detectives from each department are working together to determine if the crimes are connected.
