Deaf puppy found in box on side of Tallmadge Road in Brimfield available for adoption

AKRON, Ohio - A deaf puppy found in a box on the side of the road is now up for adoption.

Brimfield Police Chief David Oliver posted a link to the dog's Petfinder profile on the department's Facebook page Wednesday.

Cara is a Jack Russell Terrier mix, weighing between six and seven pounds. She is described as a "very, very high energy" dog who will need a "patient and kind handler."

The puppy was left abandoned on the side of Tallmadge Road in Brimfield on Jan. 12.

Oliver had some strong words for the person who abandoned the puppy.

"'Lost' dogs are not left in a cardboard box on the side of a busy highway. To say I am aggravated about this would be a greatly minimizing," the chief said. "I will say that I can tell a person's character pretty well by seeing how they treat animals. Whoever did this lacks character, period. It was mopey behavior."

You can find out more about Cara in her listing or by contacting One of a Kind Pets in Akron at 330-865-6200.
