Chief: Deaf female puppy found in box on side of road in Brimfield 'doing great' in new home

BRIMFIELD, Ohio - A deaf Jack Russell/Terrier mix puppy found in a box on the side of a road in Brimfield is "doing great" in her new, loving home.

Brimfield Police Chief David Oliver posted the uplifting update to his department's Facebook page.

On Wednesday morning, Cara and her "adopted human" stopped by the Brimfield Police Department.

"I'm pretty sure she remembered Officer Gyoker. He is convinced she recalls sleeping on his lap while he typed reports...because she kept kissing him when she saw him again," said Oliver in the Facebook message.

Cara was left abandoned on the side of Tallmadge Road in Brimfield on Jan. 12.

An estimated 800 people called One of a Kind Pet Rescue to inquire about Cara.

Oliver said if the person is found who left her in a cardboard box on the side of the road, animal cruelty charges will be filed.
