Two people are dead and police have one man in jail facing murder charges after homicides took place in a small town.

Hinckley police said it all happened round 2:30 a.m. on Friday in the 2600 block of Babcock Road in Hinckley Township.

As police arrived, they found 52-year-old Cindy Gesaman and 45-year-old Ryan Szychowicz dead inside the home. Both were shot to death.

Police arrested 42 year-old Dean Simms who also lived at the home at the time of the shooting.  There are two counts of aggravated murder against him.

Bill Watkins, who lives right across the street, told us he woke up this morning to his dogs barking and police officers outside.  "Come to the door and they were arresting a guy in the road out here," Watkins said.  "(They) put him in the back seat of the car."

We did some digging and found public records reveal that Simms has had several brushes with the law including drinking, speeding and failure to control.

For Watkins, it was somewhat hard to control his emotions when talking about the crime. "Yeah, it's sad. It's really sad," he told us with a shaky voice.

The people of Hinckley said this is so unusual.  "This is like a small town.  Everybody knows everybody," said Srecko Simic, who owns a gas station in Hinckley. "You can't really hide…not much. I really feel kind of sad because it happened in a small town like that."

For some, the crime is almost like something out of a scary movie. "It's kind of spooky, but things happen," said Watkins.  "Families have fallouts and people do bad things."

Simms was booked in Medina County Jail. No bond was set for Simms and police have not yet released a motive for the murders.
