WADSWORTH, Ohio - The city of Wadsworth has named Captain Carl Rommel as the city's new fire chief.
Rommel, 50, is a 22-year veteran of the fire service. Rommel has been a member of the Wadsworth Fire and EMS Department for 18 years.
A swearing in ceremony will be held in council chambers at Wadsworth City Hall on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 11 a.m.
"There were a number of very qualified candidates for this position and we are fortunate to have Carl as our fire chief," said City Director of Public Safety Matt Hiscock.
Rommel began his fire and EMS career with a department in Illinois in 1990. In 1994, he joined the city of Wadsworth Fire and EMS Department as a paid on call Firefighter/EMT. In 1998, he became a full-time member of the department as a paramedic.
In 2000, he was promoted to Lieutenant and in 2003 to the position of captain.
"With his organizational knowledge, Fire and EMS experiences and his vision for further developing our outstanding department, I'm pleased to appoint Carl Rommel to the fire chief position and know that he will work well with the outstanding men and women of our fire and EMS department. I look forward to working with him," said Hiscock.
His appointment as Wadsworth's 15th fire chief will be effective March 18, 2013.
