The Ohio Department of Transportation announced Tuesday its plans to make safety upgrades on a stretch of State Route 18 in Medina County.

ODOT crews plan to install a median barrier guardrail on a five-mile section of State Route 18 near Interstate 71 in order to reduce the number of crossover traffic crashes in the area.

From 2008 to 2013, there were 323 crashes in the section of State Route 18 from Windfall Road to Medina Line Road, according to ODOT.
