Police: Man attempts to lure Wadsworth student in downtown square area

WADSWORTH, Ohio - Wadsworth police are investigating an attempted child luring they say happened in the downtown square area.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, a Central Intermediate School student reported that a man with pale skin, very short light brown hair and possibly balding with a mustache and scruffy facial hair attempted to lure her into his black Jeep Liberty, possibly a Honda Pilot or other similar sport utility vehicle, according to the Wadsworth Police Department. The student said the suspect was wearing a blue-striped shirt.

The suspect pulled into a parking space on Main Street and rolled down the window when he attempted to contact the student.

Police said the girl was able to run away from the threat to the Northeast Ohio Dance School at 124 College St.

Wadsworth City Schools have issued an "Alert Now" notification to all subscribed parents and guardians. Police in Wadsworth said schools are reminding about safety procedures regarding strangers.
