'Can The Cruiser' drive in Medina Saturday to help feed the needy

MEDINA, Ohio - The Medina Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is hosting their second annual "Can The Cruiser" food drive.

It will take place on Nov. 23 at Buehler's Fresh Foods, 275 Forest Meadows Drive, in Medina from 9 o'clock Saturday morning until 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The goal is to fill the Highway Patrol Cruiser with canned goods.

Teddy Trooper and Santa are expected to make appearances. The food drive is in partnership with Feeding Medina County.

Below are the most needed items for the event:

Protein: Spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli, beefaroni, lasagna, stews, soups, tuna, peanut butter, etc.

Grains: Cereal (whole grain, individual), rice, pasta, dried beans

Fruits: Canned fruit/fruit cups, dried fruit (raisins, plums, cranberries), applesauce, 100% juice and juice boxes

Canned Vegetables

Kid- Friendly items: Fat free, sugar-free pudding cups, granola bars, popcorn, graham and/or animal crackers
