BRUNSWICK, Ohio - With Super Bowl Sunday right around the corner, now is the perfect time to decide on your party plans.
Local law enforcement officials hope you will make safety a top priority this Super Bowl.
The Brunswick Police Department announced its game plan for the finale of the football season.
Officers will be cracking down on drunk drivers all weekend long, with more DUI checkpoints.
"The men and women of law enforcement are going to be out in the community enforcing the law very strictly during Super Bowl weekend," said Brunswick Police Lt. Brian Ohlin. "It's during these peak times we want to make a big impact and let people know that we're out there doing our jobs."
The department suggests making it a team effort to keep you and your loved ones safe.
It is reminding everyone – don't drink and drive. Make sure you designate a driver or keep cab numbers handy.
If you are hosting a party, understand you can be held liable and prosecuted if someone you serve ends up in a drunken driving crash.
To avoid this, officers recommend serving plenty of food along with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
They also suggest hosts stop serving alcohol at the end of the third quarter, just like NLF stadiums. That is the perfect time to serve coffee and dessert.
