The sound of construction trucks is music to Matt Phillips ears.
"I'm glad this is going on,” said Matt Phillips.
Matt's 8-year-old son Jaleel has brittle bone disease.
His school bus rocks and bounces over large potholes at his Sheffield Estates apartment in Lorain County.
Jaleel said the bumpy bus ride hurt his back.
Just days after our story, work to fix the road started on Tuesday.
Jaleel's dad said his son is happy to see all of the work being done.
"He's definitely excited that this is getting done, he's amazed to see the machines and everything, but most importantly he knows he's going to have a smoother ride to school,” Phillips said.
Jaleel's school bus driver Kelly Harrish is also happy.
“It’s a blessing and he doesn't have to hurt like he has been. Because of your determination to find out where we can get help, who can we call to get help, it's because of Channel 5 and we are so sincerely grateful,” Harrish said.
After workers remove the old road, they will come back to repave.
The road in front of the complex, which is owned by Sheffield Reality, still needs to be fixed because of numerous potholes.
A spokesperson for Sheffield Reality said they’ll have a plan to fix that road in a few weeks.
