VIDEO: Virtual tour shows off plans for new home of Lorain High School

Groundbreaking ceremony for new Lorain HS Oct. 24

LORAIN, Ohio - A virtual tour shows off plans for the new Lorain High School, with a groundbreaking ceremony set for Oct. 24.

Architects recently released a video that offers a virtual tour inside the yet to be built Lorain High School.

The $73 million high school will be the new home of the Titans and 2,000 students when it's built and completed within four years.

The new school will be designed to be more of a campus setting, what school leaders call an "urban learning center."

It will have a three floor academic wing, other multi-story wings, a $3 million, 800 seat auditorium and more gym space than any school in Lorain's history. A restaurant, operated by students from the school's culinary arts program, will be included and open to the public.

Right now, students from the old Admiral King High School and Southview High School are all attending classes at Southview High School.

Admiral King will be torn down beginning in December to make room for the new high school. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the old Admiral King High School at 1 p.m. on Oct. 24.
