LORAIN, Ohio - The Lorain Fire Department was called out to Kayann Apartments Monday morning after two men slid down a cliff behind the complex and could not climb back up.
According to Lorain Fire Chief Dennis Livchak, crews were called out to East Erie and Illinois Avenue around 7:09 a.m. after a 24-year-old man claimed to have dropped his wallet and slid down the cliff while trying to retrieve it. The man hit his head during the icy fall.
A 23-year-old male standing by went down to try and help the male, but neither males could climb back to the top due to ice.
Lorain firefighters had the males walk across the bottom of the cliff through ankle deep water where they were assisted back to the top by fire and rescue crews.
Both males declined medical transport but were checked out at the scene by Life Care.
