A pair of separate homicide rocked Lorain on Friday night. One came about when a home invasion went wrong, the other when a domestic violence incident turned deadly.

Police say they've arrested the woman who stabbed her boyfriend during the domestic dispute. They continue to search for the man accused of the home invasion.

The two homicides pushed the total in Lorain to 11 for the year, according to Lt. Ed Super with the police department. The 11 homicides so far in 2016 are a dramatic increase from years past, according to numbers compiled by the police department.

In 2015, the city recorded no homicides. In 2014, there was only one, according to the data. There were six homicides in 2013, and that was the only year until this year with more than five slayings. Four murders were recorded in each of 2011 and 2012, and only two were marked in 2010.

Domestic Violence

Police arrived to a Euclid Avenue home after receiving reports of a domestic dispute to find Kelby Jackson, 28, dead from several stab wounds. Police pronounced him dead at the scene.

Angela Davidson, Jackson's 32-year-old girlfriend, was arrested by police. Authorities are still investigating the incident, and it's unknown if charges have been filed.

Jackson has a history of domestic violence, theft and aggravated robbery, according to police reports. He was charged in 2013 with domestic violence in Lorain County courts. Records show Jackson also served three years in prison for aggravated robbery around 2007.

Home Invasion

David Barriero was found dead by police when they arrived at his Shore Drive apartment around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police were at the apartment in response to reports of lout banging and gunfire. They say Abline Cannon, a 37-year-old man, is suspected of shooting Barriero.

Cannon showed up at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center with a gunshot wound to right arm. From there police say he was taken to MetroHealth in Cleveland for treatment. Cannon then went against the advise of doctors and left the hospital.

Police are considering Cannon armed and dangerous. They're urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact their local police department or call 1-866-4-WANTED to leave a tip with the U.S. Marshalls.
