Police capture wanted Kentucky fugitive in Amherst, search canceled

ELYRIA, Ohio - A wanted Kentucky fugitive who was last spotted by Elyria police was captured Monday afternoon in Amherst.
Police received a tip suspect Earl Thomas Newhouse IIII, 30, was staying at the Motel 6 located at 704 N. Leavitt Rd.
Police arrived and found Newhouse standing outside the motel. According to authorities, Newhouse spotted police and fled. After a short foot pursuit, Newhouse was captured.
Newhouse was arrested on his outstanding warrant in Kentucky, obstructing official business and receiving stolen property.
According to police, Newhouse had a history of fleeing, escaping from a Bell County prison work detail in 2006. Newhouse was just released from prison in July after serving time for burglary and criminal mischief charges.
Police said that Sunday night they spotted a black 1999 Trans Am that was stolen out of West Virginia, and they suspected that one of the two occupants was the man wanted in Kentucky.
Police tried to stop the car, but the suspect along with another man led officers on a chase and then bailed from the car.
