Two Detroit men arrested on drug charges after traffic stop on Ohio Turnpike in Lorain County

ELYRIA, Ohio - Two men from Detroit were arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike in Lorain County Thursday.

Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said they pulled over the Chevy Aveo with New Jersey plates at 4:38 p.m. after the driver allegedly made a marked lanes violation in the eastbound lanes near the 135 mile marker.

According to the patrol, troopers smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car, and then a search of the car turned up crack cocaine, 10 Vicodin tablets, 11 grams of marijuana and baggies used to package drugs for sale. The OSHP estimates the value of the drugs at about $3,500.

The driver, 27-year-old Daran McCollough, and passenger, 28-year-old Antonyo Jones, were both arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine, aggravated drug trafficking and possession of criminal tools. They were taken to the Lorain County Jail.

The duo could each face up to 21 years in prison, if convicted.
