ELYRIA, Ohio - Two women were arrested after troopers said they found crack cocaine in their car during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike.
Troopers said they stopped a 2007 Chevy Impala with Ohio registration for a marked lanes violation near milepost 135 in Lorain County at 4:17 p.m. Thursday.
When troopers approached they vehicle, they said they observed the passenger attempting to hide contraband, which a search revealed to be a small amount of marijuana and crack cocaine, worth about $3,000.
The driver, Kari Edgell, 24, and passenger, Samantha Paulus, 27, both of Wooster, were booked into the Lorain County Jail and charged with possession of crack cocaine and trafficking in drugs and complicity, second-degree felonies, as well as tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.
The two women could face as many as 29 years in prison and as much as a $55,000 fine if convicted.
